2015 Mystery Slide Case Session: *NEW EARLIER DEADLINE* of 1st May 2015.

Submissions are requested for the 2015 ASVCP Mystery Slide Case Session. This is a popular and interactive opportunity to share cases and experiences among attendees. Suitable material includes hematology, cytology, or surgical pathology slides. These must be submitted with pertinent history, hematologic and clinical chemistry results. Case selection is based on broad species representation, specimen quality, pathologic processes, and representation of disease entities that have not been presented at the conference in recent years. Cases that are anticipated to generate controversy or discussion will be favored in the selection process, however classic cases that are good for residency training are still encouraged.

Based on input from members, the format of the session will be different in 2015 in the following ways:

  • The case history should now include either two multiple choice questions (maximum of 4 options for each question, with only one correct answer) selected to stimulate discussion or 2 questions posed by the presenter to the audience to seek input or generate discussion on a challenging aspect of the case.
  • Please preserve the “mystery” in the case histories. Questions, figure legends and background information should be brief and not give away the answer.

We are still retaining the moderator panel and are seeking volunteers! Please contact Tracy Stokol if you are interested.

2015 ASVCP Case Discussion Session

Click here (PDF) for requirements for case submission to the 2015 ASVCP Case Discussion Session (previously Clinical Chemistry Review).

Submissions are requested for the seventh ASVCP Case Discussion Session, which is held at a separate time from the Mystery Slide session. It is anticipated that 2-3 cases will be selected for presentation, depending on their complexity.

Based on input from members, this case discussion has been renamed from Clinical Chemistry Review to illustrate the change in focus. The focus of this session is now hematologic (including flow cytometric), endocrinologic or clinical chemistry data - cytology and surgical biopsy data are supplemental. The goal of this session is to provide a forum for discussion and/or seek input from other clinical pathologists on diagnostic challenges, laboratory protocols, best practice etc in a collaborative environment. To stimulate discussion, the session will include a panel of clinical pathologists, including the moderator, that will ask questions of the audience and presenter. Please contact Tracy Stokol if you wish to volunteer for this exciting panel!
