Program Goals:
1) Prepare individuals for succcessful ACVP board certification
2) Prepare individuals for a career in diagnostic clinical pathology
3) Develop teaching skills
4) Offer individuals a foundation for a succecssful research career
Program Strengths:
Extensive cytology/hematology archives from the early 1970s, extensive class teaching sets from 1979 to present, Noah's Arkive videodisc, opportunity for extensive training in surgical pathology in addition to cytology, new state-of-the-art computer-aided teaching lab.
Training Activities:
Formal coursework and seminars, rounds (medicine, pathology and oncology), teaching professional students, journal clubs, clinical diagnostic duty with initial supervision, research project, rotations in other laboratories.
Additional Training Areas:
Surgical biopsy, research techniques, laboratory instrumentation.

Hematology, clinical chemistry, cytology, immunology, anatomic pathology, statistics, biochemistry, cellular pathology, laboratory animal pathology, microbiology, histopathology, surgical oncology.
